Disney's Vero Beach Resort

Just under a two hour drive southeast from Walt Disney World is Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. With the community of the town of Vero Beach nearby, this resort is elegant and charming, offers spacious lodging and a beautiful beach at your fingertips. Vero Beach Resort opened in 1995, and focuses on old Florida style and history. Throughout the resort, guests can find homages to everything Florida, making it the perfect location to fall in love with the Sunshine State. Guests can find murals, photos and books about the state, especially the Treasure Coast, Indian River Country, and the LA Dodgers, whose spring training home is at Vero Beach. The resort is also on the smaller side, adding to the charm of the old Florida theme.

Accommodations

With 211 rooms, the resort is split between the main building, called The Inn, three smaller buildings, and six three-bedroom beachfront cottages. The resort features several types of rooms including two types of Deluxe Studios (the regular sleeps 4 and has Garden View, while the Inn Deluxe Studio has an Ocean View and sleeps 4, as well), One-Bedroom Villas (with Ocean, Pool, Landscape, or Hotel Views, and sleeps 5 guests), Two-Bedroom Villas (sleeping up to 9 guests, and has Garden or Pool View), and the Three-Bedroom Beach Cottages (sleeping 12).

The Villas have a calm decor, blending modern sleekness with old-style beach vibes. Rooms are warm and comfortable, providing the perfect retreat and coziness for a quiet beach vacation. All of the rooms feature balconies or patios, offering a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful views.

Dining

DVC’s Vero Beach Resort has a total of four dining options.

The Wind & Waves Grill offers a Casual Dining experience, offering a beach-themed American seafood eatery with a coastal ambience. The location also encompasses two Quick-Service dining areas, including the Wind & Waves Market, where guests can grab a meal or snack that they can enjoy poolside, and the Wind & Waves Bar, a poolside lounge where guests can find a refreshing selection of cocktails and wines featuring high-end Florida liquors, as well as bottled and tap beers. Guests can also find bar service at The Green Cabin Room, a nautical-themed lounge where they can enjoy drinks, desserts, and calm and beautiful view of the ocean.

Amenities and Recreation

As a DVC resort, Vero Beach Resort offers plenty of amenities to enjoy, with the added bonus of its beachside location. The Vero Beach Feature Pool is a Mickey Mouse-shaped pool, with the 163ft Pirate’s Plunge water slide. Adjacent to the feature pool is the pirate-themed Tiger Lily Wet Play Area for the kids, complete with water cannons and a mini water slide.

Guests can also find the 9-hole Port Holes Miniature Golf, which offers a challenging and competitive game, as well as a spa, the Anchors A-weigh Fitness Room, Sing-Along Campfire, courts for tennis, volleyball, bocce ball, and spaces for scavenger hunts, bingo, and archery.

Eb & Flo’s Rentals offers bike rentals for guests to explore the area with and the Community Hall provides arts and crafts as the perfect family bonding experience. There is also Tide’s Water Sports, where guests can rent wave runners, boogie boards, kayaks, and other water sports gear, and Fishing FUNdamentals gives guests the opportunity to enjoy fishing lessons on a private lake. And of course, the Atlantic Beach is right there for all to enjoy its Treasure Coast waters.

The resort also offers conservation outings to observe the sea turtle nests. This particular beach is one of the most important turtle-nesting habitats in the western hemisphere and is frequented by three species of threatened and endangered sea turtles. Disney has contributed about $1.26 million to sea turtle conservation.

While Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is one of DVC’s smaller resorts, it is an extremely popular location with well-rated dining locations. If guests do want to visit the parks while also enjoying a relatively quiet vacation, Disney World is less than 2 hours away.

Since the resort is so popular, it is important for guests to book well ahead of their vacation, particularly if you would like to stay in one of the beach cottages. In addition, not only do guests have access to a beautiful beach with beach amenities and the unique sea turtle conservation and watching, but guests are also encouraged to bring or rent a car, or have access to a rideshare, so that they can explore the charming Vero Beach area.
